The Partnership for the National Trails System is seeking a 2027 Trail Apprentice to support the Ala Kahakai National Historic Trail in Hawaiʻi. The Apprentice will assist with communications, public relations, and community engagement surrounding a mural project connected to the trail.
This opportunity is ideal for an emerging professional interested in communications, conservation, public lands, cultural preservation, community engagement, or related fields. The Apprentice will gain hands-on project experience while building professional skills, learning about the National Trails System, and connecting with professionals across the trails and public lands community.
The program runs from December 14, 2026 through June 30, 2027 and requires approximately 15 hours per month. Selected Apprentices will also participate in professional development sessions and attend either Hike the Hill in Washington, D.C. or the International Trails Summit in Durham, North Carolina, with registration, lodging, and meal per diem provided by PNTS.
