The JPL Year-Round Internship Program offers undergraduate and graduate students hands-on research and project experience with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory throughout the academic year and summer. Interns work part-time or full-time alongside JPL scientists and engineers, contributing to real NASA missions while gaining practical experience in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Through mentorship, project-based work, and enrichment activities like lectures, tours, and career advising, the program helps students build technical skills and explore careers in STEM and space science.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) disciplines at accredited U.S. universities.
- Open to students whose colleges and universities allow them to pursue off-campus, independent study during terms or semesters of the academic year as well as summers.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA — 3.5 is preferred.
- Open to U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents (LPRs).
- First internship experience must be 10 weeks or more. (Subsequent internship terms are flexible).

- Opportunities are offered year-round.
- Full-time and part-time opportunities are available.
- Participants receive a weekly monetary award for the duration of the opportunity.
- A supplemental housing and travel allowance is provided to full-time, in-person program participants whose institution is outside the 50-mile radius of JPL.
